I tuned in to Ryan Seacrest (http://ryan.kiisfm.com) last February 10 (that’s KIIS FM in Los Angeles, which you can also listen to on the internet) and they were discussing Barbie and Ken.
Apparently, some people claim that:
#1 Barbie and Ken are actually brother and sister.
#2 Ken was based on this man who lived the Mattel factory. This man is
now dead.
#3 Ken recently had a makeover. Ken’s makeover, according to Ryan,
makes Ken look gay, especially with the sling bag of sorts.
Ryan goes on to say that if Ken were gay, then Barbie dressed up the
way she does to make him jealous. If Ken weren’t gay, then Barbie
dressed up the way she does (like a boozed up tramp most of the time,
pardon my opinion Barbie fans) to attract him.
To clarify the speculation, they had on the line this woman from New
York who is Barbie and Ken’s publicist. She made the following
clarifications:
#1 Barbie and Ken are not brother and sister. They are sweethearts.
They were together for 43 years until Barbie broke up with Ken recently
so that she could take a break from their relationship.
#2 Barbie then hooks up with this Australian dude who wakeboards (not
sure, but some other water sport that’s not surfing because Ryan was
asking how come she didn’t go for the surfer).
#3 Ken is so in love with Barbie that after they break up, he gets a
makeover in order to win her back (how gay can you get?)
Ryan then says that if he were Barbie, of course he would break up with
Ken if after 43 years he still didn’t have a ring (totally cracked me
up).
Ryan ended the Barbie-Ken discussion by telling girl-la-loo/Barbie-Ken
publicist that when he talks to her, he feels that they are actually
discussing real, live people. Ryan compared it to being in Disneyland.
Note to self:
#1 Is a discussion on Barbie and Ken the best topic for adults?
#2 Is a discussion on Barbie and Ken the best topic for adults first
thing in the morning?
#3 Should we even be discussing Ken and Barbie?
I’m a Barbie girl…in a Barbie world…wrapped in plastic…it’s fantastic
