Philippine Showbiz and Politics: Ruffa, Kris, Mike, Prospero, Sonia et al

Wow.

The word war between Ruffa Gutierrez and Dolly Ann Carvajal has reached epic proportions. Dolly’s widely read column in the Inquirer, Dollywood, has for the last few columns featured questions from readers regarding Ruffa and her (ex to be?) husband Yilmaz. In a previous column, Dolly Ann had indicated a title from a Turkish magazine that Ruffa found offensive.

Ruffa got miffed and here they are now trading barbs. Read Dolly Ann’s column which castigated, without mincing words, the drama of the mother-daughter tandem:

Ruffa took it against me and said I had no right to judge Yilmaz. Maybe she should scold the Turkish journalist who wrote that. Isn’t it time we heard from that side of the world, Yilmaz’s home?

Haven’t we all had enough of Ruffa and her mom Annabelle’s lachrymal showdowns and erratic statements? One minute Ruffa says, “Di ko na kaya.” In the next breath, she’s open to a reconciliation. What gives?

With all the drama she’s currently embroiled in, Ruffa has dethroned Kris Aquino as the tabloid darling. Kris is boring in comparison. I mean she can’t say that she moved to a different country for love and will have to seek divorce or annulment in Hell-ey. No converting to a different religion and learning a different culture. And Kris does not have the Brunei-yuki controversy and Vivika Babajee acting award fiasco under her belt, not to mention the meddlesome mom and possible Britney Spears spur-of-the-moment Vegas wedding that is now only surfacing because of internet availability of public records in the US. Technically speaking, compared to Ruffa Gutierrez, Kris is an angel.

The Ruffa brouhaha has become the go-to issue of Pinoys who don’t want to focus (or are tired of?) on the recently concluded senatorial elections, so I believe that it is only fitting that I segue into that for this blog post.

TU candidate Mike Defensor concedes defeat and for this, he has earned some points in my book, after being stricken off the list for his previous political actions. He’s still not my favorite politico but this concession has shown me at least that all might not be lost with him literally and figuratively.

On the other hand, far-out senatorial wannabe Prospero Pichay is not about to throw in the towel. I rarely use Tagalog in my blog entries, but, Ano va? Umaasa ka pa ba na mananalo ka? You are so in denial. But then again, maybe you’re now thinking of the gazillions you spent plastering your face all over the country and wondering why the gazillions didn’t bring you the office. If you were not of that mindset to begin with, you wouldn’t have ran in the first place.

I’m a bit disappointed in Sonia Roco’s comments on her partymates’ lead in the count:

Roco specifically questioned the fixed ranking of her fellow opposition candidates — Loren Legarda and Francis “Chiz” Escudero — who have been consistently at first and second, respectively, in the ongoing tally by the Comelec.

“What I notice is the results were like stuck up already. Parang nakapako na. Kung may nadagdag na boto kung saan mang probinsya, hindi man lang ba magbabago ang ranking nila? Buti pa yung mga nasa bababa, nagpapalit-palit ng puwesto [It’s like they have been stuck there. If there were votes added to their names from other provinces shouldn’t their rankings change? Those who are ranked lower have been changing positions],” she pointed out.

I do not doubt that these two did well in the elections so they’re being in the top 2 is not far off. Roco’s questioning this, although her right to do so, comes off as sour-graping because she didn’t make it.

I’ve been checking the senatorial tally on Inquirer.net and so far, those who made it to the Magic 12 are an interesting mix, in my opinion. Antonio Trillanes IV, who I believe had the least time to campaign in person, looks like he’s going to make it to the winner’s circle, if the Mindanao votes are properly sorted out. Hopefully, the new make-up of the Senate will mean a positive change in governance.

  • Bottomline is, it is Annabel’s fault because she wanted Ruffa to be what she did not become. Ruffa being the spoiled brat, she thinks she can toy anybody with her fingers. (PART EDITED OUT) Tell Ruffa, more things will be coming. She should have just shut up her mouth about the issue.

  • Pinoy showbiz is just as controversial as pinoy politics. I just hope this Ruffa-Yilmaz brouhaha will not divert the public’s attention away from the still to be finished counting of votes in the Comelec. Or could it be that this Ruffa-Yilmaz break up is TU’s ploy to make the people entertained as it finds ways to manipulate the election results? LOL.

  • I am a fan of Ruffa and I always admire her. But I am not a pathetic fan. I’m not sure if Ruffa is telling the truth or not. I wished that whatever it is, she should be truthfull in her words and actions. It’s not too late to change. We will love you more if we believe you. leave the lies to your mom.

  • I think Ruffa is still in love with Yilmaz, and we don’t know what’s the real , who’s telling the truth… but inspite of this we all know that Ruffa’s Mother is super daldal talaga and i don’t think na makialam siya lalo na’t may own family na si Ruffa and besides she’s old enough…

Hay naku! buhay showbiz talaga…Pepz magkagulo man ang kanilang FAmily hindi sila makakatulong sa pag solve sa mga problems natin…

  • Oh, Anabelle, she just want a rich man for her daughter. I remember, she’s the one who said to Ruffa’s some filipino suitor, like Zoren Legaspi, calling him as “hampas lupa”, and now, it’s proven that like mother – like daughter….

I don’t feel sorry for Ruffa, I believed that she’s not ready for marriage life, and I think there’s a real reason why she wants to stay in Philippines, when in fact her husband is in Turkey. She doesnt want to sacrifice her career, and all that drama with tears are FAKE!!!

She can act anytime, anywhere!!! All I can say, RUFFA IS FAKE!

  • hmmmp Ruffa needs to improve herself para may maniwala sa kanya
