This just in.

After the much hyped ultra expensive dessert “Frrozen Haute Chocolate” that goes for $25,000 a pop, Serendipity 3 in NYC has been shut down because of a rodent problem.

Now, if I was one of those people who lined up for hours to have dessert at this place and paid an obscene amount for the dessert and I find out that they have a rodent problem, I’d be more than upset.

Serendipity 3 Creates the World’s Most Expensive Dessert

For the last few years, the Golden Opulence, a $1,000 ice cream sundae, has reigned supreme as the priciest dessert at Serendipity 3 in New York. Now Stephen Bruce, owner of Serendipity 3, has gotten himself a Guinness world record for the most expensive dessert. The dessert emporium teamed up with jeweler Euphoria New York to create the “Frrozen Haute Chocolate,” a $25,000 chocolate sundae. The new dessert is made from a blend of 28 cocoas from all around the world and is infused with five grams of edible 23-karat gold and served in a goblet lined with edible gold. It is topped with whipped cream, more gold and a side of La Madeline au Truffle from Knipschildt Chocolatier, which sells for $2,600 a pound. It even comes with souvenirs, an 18K gold bracelet with a carat’s worth of diamonds that rests at the base of the goblet and a gold spoon set with white and chocolate-colored diamonds. It makes yesterday’s $1,000 bagel look positively simple by comparison.

Popular NYC eatery shut down for rodents

While serendipity may be the art of finding pleasant things by chance, what health inspectors found at celebrated eatery Serendipity 3 was not very agreeable.

Officials closed the restaurant Wednesday night after it failed its second inspection in a month. An inspector spotted a live mouse and mouse droppings, fruit flies, house flies and more than 100 live cockroaches.

“Both inspections revealed rodent and fly infestation and conditions conducive to pest infestation, including stagnant water in the basement,” the department said.

People stand in line for hours outside the Manhattan restaurant, known for its extravagant and expensive desserts. Its $25,000 Frrrozen Haute Chocolate features top-grade cocoa, edible gold and shavings of a luxury truffle and was declared the most expensive dessert in the world by Guinness World Records. The eatery also offers a $1,000 sundae named Golden Opulence requiring 48-hour advance notice.
