I was able to see the movie, “Then She Found Me,” a Helen Hunt extravaganza, on DVD today after jobs.
I’m glad I picked it up from the store. Of course, I picked it up because it had Colin Firth and anything with Colin Firth in a romantic set-up is bound to be delightful. When I started watching it, I discovered that it was produced, directed, scripted and starred in by Helen Hunt, and it also had Matthew Broderick in a minor role and Bette Midler in a comedic role.
I logged on to imdb and found out that it was premiered in the Toronto Film Festival in 2007 but I didn’t notice it being released in the theaters in the U.S. Oh, wait, it was only released in April in the U.S., how come there’s a DVD copy already? Never mind, I’m just happy that I got to watch it.
I couldn’t help but notice that Helen Hunt looks older than most Hollywood actresses her age. Her face is lined, with nary a touch of cosmetic procedure. Bette Midler, who plays her mom, looks more nipped and tucked than she does. I admire her for going against the grain. She’s still a wonderful actress and she played the part of a middle-aged school teacher in full on life crisis mode well.
It goes without saying that Colin Firth is adorable. This man for me can do no wrong. At least, on screen.
Over the weekend, we got to watch “Street Kings,” with Keanu Reeves. We only watched the movie because of Hugh Laurie, who acted like he does in House. Basically, the movie sucked, even with Forrest Whitaker in it. The whole time I watched, I couldn’t help but compare it to “American Gangster,” which I enjoyed very much.
Oh well
More movies coming up.
And let me just say that despite life’s hectic pace, I now try to find time for my TV shows again, which means things are back to normalcy. Last night was Brothers and Sisters, I’d probably catch Ugly Betty tonight, and of course, tomorrow is the Part 1 of the David vs David saga on American Idol.
