Singapore Swing

I was in Singapore a few weekends ago. Mostly to eat. Ended up buying three pairs of shoes, thanks to my friend’s great discount at Tang’s, this department store along Orchard Road beside Lucky Plaza, the building that houses the Filipino stores.

I found out that corned beef from the Philippines cannot be legally sold in those stores. My friend explained it as some sort of government regulation that bans mass importation of beef products, or something to that effect.

Anyway, the next few entries will be on Singapore and what I ate. Hehe.

From this stall in a Little India hawker stall, I bought Hainanese chicken, my first taste of the Singapore staple in Singapore.

Maybe I was just extremely hungry. But this one was really good. Moist, non-overpowering hint of flavor complimenting the simplicity of the chicken dish. I could eat this forever. Oh, and I did eat some of the veggies.

Other diners at the hawker place.

And before I forget about dessert, which I almost did, here it is:

Iced kapchang. Marvelous. I especially loved the side with molasses. The other parts are irrelevant. Sing has the best fruit shakes ever. I had melon shake.

And before I forget, the ones on the right are friend dumplings stuffed with veggies and meat. Not my favorite among everything I’ve eaten but they weren’t bad at all.

Typing up this post has made me hungry and yearning to go back there just to eat. I’m a slave to food, I know.

And I haven’t even posted about the best meal I’ve had in that country.
