The cat is out of the bag. Or one can say the worms are out of the expired can.
It has been finally revealed, by Brian Gorell no less, on the Victorina blog that the person (not s) behind chikatime (RIP), the blog that launched a thousand addicts (literally and figuratively), is the popular (now international), self-absorbed fashion blogger, bryanboy.
I found out about it via chuvaness.
The links are all here so you can navigate your way through the drama that started a year ago and is not really done and over with but actually opening a new chapter, akin to a tragic soap opera. You know it gets as cliche as it can but you can’t keep your eyes off the tube.
How true is it? Will Bryanboy respond to the allegation?
As I was telling my friend, over chat, for all it’s worth (and for all the bad vibes the gossip blog caused), chikatime managed to take on the established system of people who self-promoted themselves and made the public envy them by virtue of bombardment and made the public think they were the epitome of coolness.
Chikatime opened the can of worms and now the worms are freely roaming the earth.
In the process, whoever was behind it has kind of become the establishment he was fighting against, with the self-promotion and the freebies from the different junkets. So he fought the system alright, but it’s worth it to ask, did he in the process become it?
The wheels have turned.
Thoughts, anyone?

I don’t really care what Gorrell has to say. Why do people still pay him any mind? And why is he doing this just now? Akala ko ba CT helped Gorrell bring his story out? Gorrell’s playing Judas right now.

I don’t care if BB is Chikatime or not. I just want Chikatime back! That site was so funny and well-written. You’re not supposed to take it seriously. It’s a gossip blog fer christ’s sakes.

To answer your question, I don’t think BB became part of the establishment. Blogger lang siya. He doesn’t write for a newspaper and he’s not a journalist therefore he’s not bound by rules of ethics governing journalism, bribes, freebies, junkets, etc.

You’re right, in that bloggers are not governed by the same rules as journalists are, although I think that they should adhere to ethical standards if they want to be taken seriously like journalists (and they are now being tried, in libel cases, using the same parameters as journalists).
The thing is, chikatime made fun of the antics of the social set. But if chikatime is BB, he ended up being no better than them in his quest for fame and fortune and his betrayal of his so-called friends.
Read Kitty Go’s interesting take on the matter. I think she raises good points.

It was all an act, according to the whistle blowers. To throw people off his scent, he also had to skewer himself. Which, if true, makes it all the more disturbing. Or brilliant, depending on your perspective.

I think it’s unfair for Chikatime to be crucified over this when in reality, the ones who had malicious intent are the people who are feeding the site with gossip about their “friends”.

well you know how it goes, either you fight the establishment or you get swallowed by it. if this is real, it’ll be interesting what bryan has to say, considering that from the looks of it, he was swallowed by the very establishment that he tried to fight for, if indeed he was the voice behind chikatime.
yet, you could also say that, is this some *marketing slash promotions* ploy? (nothing negative nor pun intended).
